At about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, one of Housley’s suite-mates tweeted that she was missing. Pepperdine University announced that one student who was at the bar during the shooting was unaccounted for, and it later issued a statement confirming Alaina Housley’s death.
“Our hearts are broken with the news of this profound loss,” the university said in a statement. “We offer our deepest condolences to the Housley family and ask that our community join us in keeping Alaina’s family, friends, and loved ones in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
In a tweet, Logan Hall, Pepperdine student and a KTLA-TV intern, described Alaina Housley as “an English major with dreams of studying law” and a member of the university’s mock trial team.
“She was only on this campus for a few shorts months, but she impacted the lives of so many around her,” Hall said in the tweet. “We are devastated.”
Alaina Housley’s parents, Arik and Hanna Housley, own the Ranch Markets in Napa and Yountville.
