Who was the shooter?
Stephen Craig Paddock, a 64-year-old resident of Mesquite, Nev., was named by police as the shooter. Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo later said Paddock killed himself as police broke into his room at the Mandalay Bay, which he was believed to have occupied since Sept. 28. “We are completely dumbfounded,”
said Eric Paddock, a brother who lives in central Florida. Later, it was revealed that the brothers' deceased father was
a bank robber who had been on the FBI's most-wanted list in the 1960s.

Police say 64-year-old multimillionaire Stephen Craig Paddock used automatic weapons to rain down gunfire on a crowd of 22,000 people attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night. He was found with 16 guns in a room in the Mandalay Bay hotel, across the street from the festival.
Headliner Jason Aldean was in the middle of his set just after 10pm when a rumble of gunfire rang out, the sounds of screams and stampeding humans cutting through the country music.
It took police an hour and 12 minutes from the first 911 call to locate Paddock in the building and break into his room.
They used explosives to blow the door off his room, but by then it was too late - Paddock had shot himself dead. It's unclear how long after he first started shooting that Paddock committed suicide.
Inside the room they found an arsenal of firearms and a large cache of ammunition. A law enforcement source told the Wall Street Journal that they found at least one fully automatic rifle among the batch, which included AR-15-style rifles and AK-47-style rifles.
Paddock had rented a large, two room suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, smashing windows in both rooms in order to fire on the fleeing crowds.
In the room, police found guns - with two on tripods, and some with scopes. The fertilizer ammonium nitrate - which can be used to make bombs - was also found in his car.
A subsequent raid on a home he shared with his 62-year-old girlfriend, Marilou Danley, in Mesquite, Nevada, uncovered 18 more weapons, as well as explosives, ammunition and unknown electronic devices.
And on Monday afternoon, Nevada police were preparing to raid a second property owned by him in Reno. SWAT bomb experts were on hand in case of booby traps.
Danley, who is currently believed to be in the Far East, was initially named as a person of interest in the shooting, but police do not believe she was involved in the attacks.
